The Double Degree in the Master’s degree for African and Asian Studies (SAA) and the Master’s degree in Cultural Studies:Cultures, Identities and Nationhood in Morocco (CSM) has a joint study plan with Italy and Morocco , between the University of Pavia and the University of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah di Fez. Students who are admitted onto the Double Degree course will spend their second year in exchange : students from Pavia will go and study in Morocco and students from Fez will come to Italy. The Double Degree is in English. All the courses are in English except for the course in Arabic for the Italian students in Morocco.
The training exchange programme is interdisciplinary in the Area Studies (SAA in Pavia) and in the Cultural Studies (CSM in Fez), with the aim of improving the linguistic tools of both of the English and the Arabic languages. As well as the exchange courses the students will dedicate their time abroad to doing research for their thesis. The thesis will then be discussed in front of a joint Commission of both Universities in the student’s own university.
Enrolment on the Double Degree Course takes place every year in spring, for the regularly enrolled first year SAA students. Students accepted on the course will then be able to transfer abroad the following October. The first exchange year is 2022/23 for SAA students enrolled in their first academic year in 2021/22.
The requirements for enrolment are specified in the Double Degree Agreement you can find here . You will have had to have passed at least 30 CFUs in the summer exam session ( end of July) of the first year. Any exceptions will be examined individually.
